Spiders are extremely common in Australia and correct identification is crucial in order to tailor the correct treatment to match their habits. Spiders can wither be Ground dwelling (Trapdoor and Funnel Web etc.) or Webbing (Red Backs and Black House Spider etc.)
Ground dwelling spiders spend the majority of their time in burrows and are therefore difficult to control. Treatment of these spiders would involve a thorough inspection of premises to locate specific burrows and harbourages. Direct spot spraying treatment is then applied and two weeks later, webs and harbourages removed to discourage reinfestation.
Webbing spiders are usually treated by direct spot spraying to accessible areas where they are active or webbing is evident. This includes cracks and crevices, under seating, around down pipes, lighting, doorways, and windows externally and also, around commercial equipment where webbing may harbour spiders.
